The docs site shipped a new endpoint page: /docs/webhooks. Support kept pasting the old /docs/hooks URL in tickets. Search Console still liked the old path.
New documentation is a URL event. They 301’d the old path, then used the Hacklink Panel so hacklink sales would buy hacklink into the canonical docs page. A backlink to a deprecated slug trains the wrong result.
SaaS marketing wanted the homepage. Engineering wanted the exact reference URL. For a query like “webhook retry policy,” the docs page is the one that can rank. Point the catalog purchase there.
When the docs generator added trailing slashes as policy, they edited destinations instead of opening a “new buy” with a stranger. That is what a panel is for.
Do not buy for a docs URL that still returns 401 behind a login. Google cannot use it. Public docs first, then the sale.
